Despite a summer full of speculation, Kylian Mbappe ultimately stayed put and remained a PSG player. He was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid and there were even rumors swirling that Mbappe turned down several contract offers from Paris.
The Frenchman finally set the record straight in a recent interview with RMC Sport and made it clear that he wasn’t exactly too pleased with how PSG handled the whole situation.
“Personally, I didn’t really appreciate Paris Saint-Germain saying ‘He is asking to leave in the last week of August…’ because that is wrong. it made me feel like a thief. I informed them early, at the end of July.”
Of course, PSG was involved in a transfer saga with Madrid for Mbappe towards the end of the transfer window, but it seems as he made it known he wanted to leave much earlier. Although Mbappe was keen on a new challenge, the youngster also said he’s happy at the club right now:
“Paris Saint-Germain have given me a lot. I have always been happy in the four years I spent here, and I still am.”
Mbappe becomes a free agent next summer and would be eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with the La Liga giants in January.
