Egypt’s Ahly have been drawn in Group A of the 2020/21 Total CAF Champions League, while Zamalek came in Group G.
Zamalek was given a free pass to the continental tournament after the failure of their opponents, Gazelle FC of Chad, to show up for their game in the 32nd round.
Meanwhile, Ahly, the current title holders, booked their place in the group stage after beating Niger’s Champions, Sonidep 5-0 on aggregate in the 32nd round.
Ahly is expected to face an easy mission in the Group A as they paired with Al-Merrikh SC of Sudan, Simba of Tanzania, and AS Vita Club of DR Congo.
Zamalek have been drawn in Group G alongside Tunisian giants Esperance, Algeria’s TeMC Alger, and Teungueth of Senegal.
Ahly, the record nine-time of African Champions League title, are still hungry for more continental triumphs.
Ahly snatched the CAF Champions League title last season at the expense of bitter Cairo rivals Zamalek in dramatic fashion, following a late scorcher from Magdi Afsha.
Meanwhile, Zamalek, the five-time winner of the CAF Champions League title, are bidding bidding for their six CAF Champions League title.
