Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo says he plans to give Cristiano Ronaldo some rest this season in order to conserve him.
The Portuguese joined the Old Lady from Real Madrid two years ago and has quickly become the club’s main source of goals.
Ronaldo wasted little time in opening his account for the season after scoring in Sunday’s Serie A opener against Sampdoria.
Pirlo said despite the 35-year-old’s reluctance to be rested, he will be made to sit out at some point in the season to avoid a burnout.

“We are thinking about [how to use Ronaldo] and talked it over,” Pirlo told Sky Sports Italia.
“He’s not tired yet, as we just started, but when we come up to less important games, we’ll try to give him a rest.
“He’s a very intelligent guy who knows his body very well, so he is aware of when it’s time to rest or to step it up. When he will play depends on him.”
Ronaldo scored 31 goals in Serie A last season and will hope to score more this campaign, as well as help Juventus, win the Champions League.
