Hundreds of sportspeople have signed an open letter urging the prime minister to sit down with sprinter Beth Dobbin and fund ME research.
The sporting world is lining up behind Beth Dobbin. A total of 360 sportspeople have put their names to a letter urging the prime minister to meet the sprinter and commit more money to research into ME.
Dobbin has become the face of the push, and her fellow athletes are making clear she isn't doing this alone. The signatories want a direct conversation between government and someone who knows what life with the condition is like, rather than another round of vague promises.
ME, or myalgic encephalomyelitis, is a long-term illness that can bring crushing fatigue and leave people struggling with everyday tasks. Campaigners have long argued that it gets too little attention and too little investment, and this letter adds athletes' voices to that demand.
The ask is twofold: a meeting with the prime minister, and a bigger funding commitment to research. With hundreds of athletes now publicly on board, the pressure is on Downing Street to respond.
