AC Milan extends their lead on top of Serie A as Zlatan Ibrahimovic saves the day with a last-minute wonder

Share
AC Milan has been playing really well in Serie A this season as they became a top contender for the title after fantastic first few months. Stefano Pioli's team is looking to build on this performance, but as we approach Christmas, we can see the first red flags for the Rossoneri. Led by Zlatan Ibrahimovic in offensive position, Milan exited the European competitions early this season. They finished 4th in their UCL Group Stage as the loss to Liverpool in their last match knocked them out of the tournament. Their struggle continued in Serie A with yet another indecisive game against Udinese. The Rossoneri knew that they were coming to Stadio Friuli for the three points and nothing less. The game started well for the hosts as Beto found himself in the right place in 17th minute. He opened the scoring for his team with a well-directed shot from inside the box. In the remaining minutes of the first half, Milan tried to find the equalizer, but with no success. In 44th minute, Theo Hernandez got a goal ruled out for offside. The first half ended with Udinese leading in the score line. The second half began with a domination from AC Milan. It all seemed that the game will go in favour of the hosts until the 92nd minute. Then, Zlatan Ibrahimovic fired a rebound inside the right post of Marco Silvestri. This was the 7th Serie A goal for the Swede as he finds the net in a second consecutive game. With the last action of the game, Isaac Success from Udinese was sent off in 95th minute after staying in the way of Mike Maignan. The result pulled the host away from the relegation zone as they are 15th with 17 points. Milan remains on top with 39 points from 17 games played, but they can lose the 1st place if either Inter or Napoli take the three points today.
