London-born striker Daniel Adu-Adjei has been summoned by the Black Meteors after a flying start to life in Croatia.
Ghana has a new attacking name to watch. Daniel Adu-Adjei, the 21-year-old striker at HNK Rijeka, has received his first call-up to the Black Meteors for the 2027 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya.
Head coach Desmond Ofei named him in a 23-man squad that includes eight foreign-based players, and the reward is well earned. Adu-Adjei has hit seven goals in 14 appearances for Rijeka this season, quickly becoming a reliable option in the Croatian side's front line.
Born in London to Ghanaian parents, the forward holds both British and Ghanaian citizenship, and he now begins his international journey with the West African nation. His football education came through the youth setups at Brentford and Fulham before he joined Bournemouth in 2021, where he regularly found the net for the development sides, especially at U21 level.
Senior experience followed through loan spells at Poole Town, Leyton Orient and Carlisle United, before a move to Rijeka in August 2025. His form in Croatia has kept improving, and the Libya double-header now gives him a chance to show what he can do in the black and gold and stake his claim in Ghana's youth plans.
