AFCON2023Q: GUINEA BISSAU vs NIGERIA - HT Player Ratings

Share

Nigeria go into the break with a 1-0 lead over their hosts Guinea Bissau in Bissau with Moses Simon coolly slotting it home from the spot after Bright Osayi-Samuel was fouled in the box in the 3oth minute.

It's a must win for the Super Eagles against the Djurtus who are looking to go back to the top of the standings following a poor showing in the reverse fixture last Friday in Abuja, Nigeria. Super Eagles starting XI vs Guinea Bissau UZOHO (GK) - Still to be really rested in the game but had looked shaky in the  few times he's been called upon to react. (4/10) KENNETH OMERUO (C) - His introduction this time around has brought a bit of management to the Eagles defense based on his experience in this game. He's helped in attack with set pieces so far. (6/10) SEMI AJAYI - Started solidly at the back alongside Omeruo. Didn't get the nod in the reverse fixture. Had a shot on target via a set piece situation and will look to solidify his performance in the next 45 minutes. (6/10) BRIGHT OSAYI-SAMUEL - Picked up from where he paused in the reverse fixture. Hs had a good game with the attacking runs, defending well and one of his runs earned the team a penalty. His pace is really a worry for opponents. (7/10) ZAIDU SANUSI - Wasn't particularly impressive with his defending and anytime he helps with the attack, his final balls have been far from convincing. (5/10) FRANK ONYEKA - Still an average performance so far. (5/10) TEREM MOFFI - Got the nod today, had a chance but his kick was blocked easily. Will be looking to take more of such chances in the second half. (5/10) ALEX IWOBI - Has helped controlled the midfield so far. Also been very helpful by playing deep into the midfield. Still a key figure in this squad. (7/10) MOSES SIMON - Expected more from him especially from the wings and crosses. Still an average performance. (6/10) SAMUEL CHUKWUEZE - Another unconvincing display so far. How long do we have to endure watching him struggle in this tie? (5/10) VICTOR OSIMHEN - Chances haven't really come. The Serie A top striker is still to replicate his club form but his input and work rate have been impressive. (6/10)
