Two Ghanaians turned the game on its head as Aarau stormed back from a goal down to beat Neuchâtel Xamax 3-1 and snap a three-game losing run.
Ghana's Daniel Afriyie and David Acquah were the heroes on Friday as FC Aarau fought back to beat Neuchâtel Xamax 3-1 in the Swiss Challenge League. Both Black Stars-eligible talents found the net in the second half to turn a deficit into a statement away win.
The hosts looked to be heading into the break in control after Eris Abedini kept his cool from the penalty spot in the 40th minute. Aarau went into halftime trailing, with their poor recent form still hanging over them.
The visitors came out with a different attitude after the restart. Acquah leveled the score in the 75th minute, and the momentum swung firmly toward Brunello Iacopetta's men. Then came the late drama. Afriyie struck in the 92nd minute to put Aarau ahead, and Alexis Beka Beka added a third a minute later to seal it.
The win was badly needed. Aarau had lost three straight league games before this trip, and the stoppage-time surge gives them a major confidence boost. Next up is a Challenge League clash with FC Wil, where the Ghanaian duo will look to keep the good run going.
