Nigerian sprinter Kanyinsola Ajayi continued his impressive performance this year with another victory at Meeting de Sotteville in France.

Ajayi on Monday equalled his personal best of 9.92 seconds, setting a new meeting record to win the men’s 100m event.

The 20-year-old, in his first race since the NCAA Championships, where he finished fourth, beat Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme, who finished second in 10.04s, while Mamadou Sarr of Senegal came third in 10.10s.

Ajayi ran the fourth sub-10s of his career and tied the duo of Davidson Ezinwa and Seun Ogunkoya for the second most sub-10s by a Nigerian athlete.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwean Makanakaishe Charamba won the men’s 200m at Meeting de Sotteville in a time of 20.08s, with two other Africans completing the podium.

Eseme set a new Cameroon national record of 20.23s to finish in second place, while South Africa’s Abduraqhman Karriem, who clocked 20.43s, claimed third.
