Ghana's champions shrugged off an early setback to flatten Mali's USFAS Bamako 5-1 and kick off their Women's Champions League campaign in style.
Ghana's champions have announced themselves on the continental stage. Ampem Darkoa Ladies opened their 2026 CAF Women's Champions League campaign with a statement 5-1 win over Mali's USFAS Bamako, turning an early deficit into a thorough Group B demolition.
It did not start smoothly. Oumou Kone put USFAS in front in the 10th minute, and for a short spell the Malian side looked comfortable. But the Ghanaians responded with real authority. Angelina Yeboah levelled in the 27th minute, finishing off a pass from Nancy Amoh, and just three minutes later Patricia Agyei struck to complete the turnaround and make it 2-1.
Amoh thought she had stretched the lead in the 55th minute, but the flag went up for offside and the goal was ruled out. Ampem kept pressing regardless, and the breakthrough arrived in the 78th minute when Yeboah added her second to make it 3-1. Beline Nyarko then made it four just four minutes later, and the result was beyond doubt.
Amoh had the final word, wrapping up the scoring in the fourth minute of stoppage time to seal the 5-1 victory. It is an ideal start for Ampem Darkoa as they chase a place in the semi-finals, and a loud reminder that Ghana's women's game is ready to make noise across Africa.
