Amusan Clinches Podium Finish at Silesia Diamond League

Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan produced a strong finish to secure a podium spot in the women’s 100 metres hurdles at the Silesia Diamond League in Poland on Saturday, AfroBallers reports.

The 28-year-old placed third in the final with a time of 12.25 seconds – an improvement of 0.23s from her heat performance, where she had finished fourth.

Amusan endured the slowest reaction time off the blocks and trailed the field in the early stages. But her relentless effort and trademark speed allowed her to claw her way back, dipping at the line to secure a place in the top three.

Olympic champion Masai Russell stormed to victory in a Diamond League record 12.19s, with fellow American Tonea Marshall setting a personal best of 12.24s to take second.

Jamaica’s Danielle Williams followed Amusan in fourth with a personal best of 12.31s, while Americans Alia Armstrong (12.32s) and Keni Harrison (12.41s) completed the top six.

Despite finishing third, Amusan remains second in the women’s 100m hurdles Diamond League standings with 23 points. She has secured qualification for the season-ending final in Zurich, and will line up alongside event leader Grace Stark.
