Kimi Antonelli starts the US Grand Prix from pole with a shot at becoming Formula One's youngest world champion if results fall his way.
Kimi Antonelli lines up on pole for the United States Grand Prix in Austin, and he could leave Texas with a place in the history books. Lights out is at 3pm CDT, which is 8pm GMT.
The maths is simple. Antonelli clinches the world title today if he wins the race, George Russell finishes outside the top eight, and Lewis Hamilton ends up outside the top four. That would make him the youngest champion the sport has ever seen.
There is also a late grid change. Lance Stroll will start from the pit lane after his team made setup changes to the car. Starting from the pit lane usually costs a driver track position, but it gives the team a chance to reset the car's balance and try a different strategy.
With a title on the line and the front row set, Austin has the ingredients for a big race. Antonelli has to deliver under pressure, while Russell and Hamilton need to keep him from getting everything he needs.
