Antony Davis sprained his left MCL

The Lakers' star Antony Davis sprained his left MCL during Friday night's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, 92-110.

During the third quarter of the game, the Wolves big man flopped and collided with Davi's leg. As Davis held on to his left knee, it was clear that he was in pain. Though he was seen walking, he soon fell to the ground and made his way to the locker room.

Eight-time All-Star and NBA champion was quick to be assessed. Davis' knee appears to be intact, but an MRI report states that he has sprained it.

When asked, all he had to say was …

"I just reached a point where it was tough to walk," Davis said Sunday, speaking to reporters.

"I had to take a break. ... I did hear something pop -- and the first thing I thought of was [a major injury]. Which, I was emotional, I was just like everywhere. But like I said, thank God that it wasn't that."

Davis will be out for four weeks as he focuses on rehabbing his sprained MCL before being reevaluated.

Unfortunately, the Lakers are one of the many teams struggling to keep a healthy and complete roster due to the NBA's health and safety protocols. Davis joins Avery Bradley, Talen Horton-Tucker, Dwight Howard, Malik Monk, Kendrick Nunn, Austin Reaves, and several staff members, including head coach Frank Vogel in the COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

Los Angeles is scheduled to play in San Antonio on Friday night against the Spurs.
