John Antwi says consecutive victories have revived the mood in the Hearts of Oak camp as the table-toppers prepare to host Basake Holy Stars.
Ghana Premier League leaders Hearts of Oak are riding a fresh wave of belief, and striker John Antwi says two straight wins have changed the mood inside the Phobians camp. Speaking to Hearts TV, he admitted the dressing room felt the strain when results weren't going their way.
"When we were not winning, it really affected the team. The team spirit was a bit down," Antwi explained. Now, with back-to-back victories behind them, he believes the squad is walking into their next fixture with confidence and a clear appetite to make it three.
The most recent success came in matchweek seven, when Hearts edged Vision FC 1-0 thanks to a decisive strike from Kwesi Asmah. The result lifted the Accra giants to the summit of the table with 14 points from seven games, a strong statement after their earlier struggles.
Next up is Basake Holy Stars, who visit the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Friday at 5:00 pm. Last season's meetings between the sides went a goalless draw at home for Hearts, followed by an away win, and the Phobians will be hoping to extend their winning run in front of their own fans as the title push gathers pace.
