Godfred Arthur snatched a dramatic late winner as Bibiani GoldStars beat Heart of Lions 2-1 at Dun's Park in Week 8 of the Ghana Premier League.
Ghana's top flight delivered more late drama in Week 8. Bibiani GoldStars edged Heart of Lions 2-1 at Dun's Park, and Godfred Arthur's late strike settled a game that seemed to be heading for a draw.
The hosts were the sharper side early on. Kelvin Oppong came close, and Kwame Opoku caused problems in the box, winning a penalty in the 14th minute. The former Kotoko striker stepped up but saw his effort saved by Lions goalkeeper Prince Asempa.
Opoku got another chance from the spot before the break and made no mistake. Asempa guessed the right way, but the shot was too powerful to keep out, and the GoldStars led at the interval. Heart of Lions slowly grew into the game as the half went on, but too late to level before the whistle.
The visitors kept that momentum after the restart, with John Cobbinah testing the home defence from distance. Substitute Stephen Afoakwa then pulled them level in the 87th minute, cancelling out Opoku's goal and apparently earning a point. Arthur had other ideas, and his late strike gave Bibiani a thrilling three points on home soil.
