Atlanta Braves' Marcell Ozuna gets a solid punishment following his domestic violence

Share
The 31-year-old outfielder for the Atlanta Braves, Marcell Ozuna, got a serious punishment from the MLB following his aggravated assault charges. The Dominican was arrested on May 29, 2021 when he attacked his wife in their house. He was later on placed on administrative leave by the 2021 World Series Champions as the case proceeded in the courtroom. He was suspended with a 20-game ban as he violated MLB' domestic violence policy. Marcell Ozuna has a solid career in the Major League Baseball (MLB) where he played since 2013. He began his MLB days with the Miami Marlins and after 5 great years in Florida, he switched to the St. Louis Cardinals. Being a two-time MLB All-Star in 2016 and 2017, he slowly became one of the most discussed players in the League. He is regularly among the leaders in home runs and runs batted in. In 2020, he led the National League in both aspects of the game. Making the math, the suspension will cost Marcell Ozuna approximately $1.5 million. The outfielder signed a 4-year contract with the Braves in 2021 worth $64 million. He hasn't played for the team since May 25, 2021 when Atlanta defeated the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. In this game, he suffered a serious hand injury. Later on, he missed the whole Playoffs where the Braves surprised everybody as they lifted the trophy in the end. However, the Dominican will be once again eligible to play for the reigning World Series Champions in early 2022.
