Nana Kofi Babil's 81st-minute winner lifted Medeama past Aduana and restored the defending champions to the Ghana Premier League summit.
Defending Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC were pushed all the way before Nana Kofi Babil broke Aduana FC's resistance nine minutes from time, securing a 1-0 win at the TnA Stadium on Sunday. The Mauve and Yellow had to dig deep to show their title credentials were real.
The result sends Medeama back to first place after Matchday 8. They sit level on points with Hearts of Oak, but a superior goal difference keeps them narrowly ahead in a title race that is taking shape early in the 2026/27 season.
The hosts arrived hungry to respond after their first defeat of the campaign, a 2-1 loss to FC Samartex. Playing at home, they pressed for an opener, but Aduana were organised and stubborn. The visitors frustrated Medeama's attack, and the sides went into the break goalless.
The second half followed the same pattern. Medeama kept probing and Aduana kept holding firm, and a draw looked the likeliest outcome. Then Babil stepped up when it mattered most to claim all three points.
It was far from a flashy performance, but champions are often defined by results like this one. Grinding out a win while under pressure is what keeps a title defence alive, and Medeama will take the three points and the league lead into the next round of fixtures.
