Back to Eastern Conference: Heat getting Oladipo from Rockets

The Miami Heat are acquiring Victor Oladipo in a trade with the Houston Rockets, ESPN reported Thursday afternoon. This was one of the scenarios in which the report drops after the 3 PM ET deadline. Teams can get trade calls into the League for deals before they’re reported at the buzzer. So the Rockets find a home for Oladipo and we’ll see what type of package the Heat send in return. The trade is Oladipo for G Avery Bradley, C Kelly Olynyk and a draft swap, per Shams Charania. The Rockets were reportedly looking to move Dipo and the Heat make a big splash by adding him to Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo (assuming neither was apart of the deal). It will be interesting to see what happens here. Duncan Robinson, Tyler Herro or Kendrick Nunn will certainly be involved. The Heat also have young pieces in Gabe Vincent, Precious Achiuwa and JZ Okpala.

The Heat are getting another certified scorer in Oladipo that can play next to Jimmy Butler. It was the second-time this season that the veteran guard was traded. In 20 games with the Houston Rockets, Oladipo was averaging 21.2 points, 5.0 assists, and 4.8 assists per game. Despite those stats, the 28-year-old hasn’t shot the ball well at 40.7% from the field and 32% from three-point range.
