Chicago hand Tennessee two first-round picks to land All-Pro tackle Jeffery Simmons as the Bears chase their first Super Bowl since 1985.
The Chicago Bears just made one of the boldest moves of the NFL calendar. They have reportedly acquired All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons from the Tennessee Titans in a blockbuster trade.
The price is steep. Chicago is sending Tennessee first-round picks in both 2027 and 2028, plus a fourth-rounder in next year's draft. In return, the Bears get Simmons and a 2028 fifth-round selection. That is a serious haul for a Titans team in the middle of a rebuild, and it gives them extra ammunition to reshape the roster.
For Chicago, the message is clear: the waiting game is over. The Bears haven't won a Super Bowl since 1985, and adding a disruptive interior force like Simmons shows they are done building patiently and are ready to chase a title. A tackle of his caliber can collapse pockets, stuff the run and force opposing offenses to rethink their game plans.
The gamble is that those future firsts could have become cornerstone players on cheap rookie deals. But when a front office sees a championship window opening, it sometimes pays to push every chip to the middle of the table. Chicago just did exactly that.
