Bechem United Boss: I'd Pick El Clásico Over Ghana League

Kingsley Osei Bonsu admits he'd switch off the Ghana Premier League for Barcelona vs Real Madrid, calling the local product unattractive.

One of the men running a Ghana Premier League club has delivered a brutal verdict on the competition he works in. Bechem United owner Kingsley Osei Bonsu says the domestic league is simply not attractive enough, and that given a choice, he would watch El Clásico over any local fixture.

The veteran administrator spoke on Accra-based Hot 93.9FM and did not soften his message. He argued that the quality of football at home cannot compete with Europe's elite, and said Ghanaian football as a whole has declined. In his view, nobody should be shocked if he skips the local action.

His comments land on a league already battling familiar problems. Stadium attendances have been poor, pitches have deteriorated, player welfare has been inadequate, and security concerns continue to hang over matchdays. Together, these issues have chipped away at the experience for fans in the stands.

Coming from a club owner rather than a critic on the sidelines, the admission carries extra weight. Osei Bonsu says significant improvements are needed to win supporters back, and the debate now is whether Ghana's football stakeholders will act on it or let the gap to the European product keep growing.
