Beto and Doucoure Score as Everton and Man United Share the Spoils at Goodison

Beto and Abdoulaye Doucoure were on the scoresheet but their efforts were not enough as Everton were held to a 2-2 draw by Manchester United in Saturday afternoon’s Premier League early kick off at Goodison Park.

The Toffees were ahead after 19 minutes when Doucoure’s headed effort fell to the path of Beto to tuck in. The goal was checked by VAR for offside and stood.

It was the Guinea-Bissau forward’s third league goal in a row and his fifth in his last four league games.

Everton doubled their lead in the 33rd minute after Doucoure latched on to a rebound from an Andre Onana save for the Malian’s second league goal of the season after netting his first in a 4-0 win over Leicester City at the start of the month.

The game remained in the favour of David Moyes’ side until the 72nd minute when United captain Bruno Fernandes scored a free kick.

The Portuguese midfielder was presented with another free kick in the 80th minute which Manual Ugarte latched on to from a failed Everton clearance for his first goal for the club.

The Toffees had a shout for a penalty in added time after Matthijs De Ligt was adjudged to have pulled down Ashley Young. Referee Andy Madley had initially given the spot kick but rescinded after consulting with the VAR pitch side monitor.

The result moved Everton above Tottenham Hotspur to 12th while Man United remain in 15th, 13 points clear of the relegation zone.
