Ghana's U-23 side opens its 2027 AFCON qualifying push in Benina, with Mauritania's Moussa Diou set to referee the first leg.
Ghana's Black Meteors begin their march back to the Olympic Games on Wednesday, November 11, when they travel to Libya for the first leg of their 2027 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations second-round qualifier at the Benina Martyrs Stadium. Kickoff is 19:00 GMT (17:00 local time).
CAF has appointed Mauritania's Moussa Diou as centre referee. He will get support from compatriots Hamedine Diba and Abderrahmane Anne as assistant referees, while Abdel Kader M'Bareck is the fourth official. Algeria's Djamel Ould Ammar will serve as match commissioner, and Tunisia's Said Mohamed Kordi is the referee assessor.
Ghana skipped the first round thanks to a bye, so this tie is their opening test in the campaign. The return leg follows on November 17 at the Accra Sports Stadium, which gives the Meteors a home crowd to lean on if the tie is still live after the trip to Libya.
The prize for winning over two legs is a place in the final qualifying round, where Ghana would meet either Equatorial Guinea or Niger. That decisive stage is scheduled for March 22-30, 2027, with a spot at the tournament, and a shot at the Olympic pathway, on the line.
For a young Ghana squad, the first leg is about setting the tone away from home. A strong result in Benina would put the Meteors firmly in control heading back to Accra.
