England cricket great Lord Botham has turned miles of hard graft into more than £12m for leukaemia research, and he's proud of every step.
Cricket legend Lord Botham has reflected with pride on a remarkable fundraising career, after his series of gruelling challenges raised more than £12m for leukaemia research.
The former England all-rounder, who built his name with bat and ball, has spent decades showing he can also go the distance away from the pitch. Rather than a single stunt, his efforts have come through a string of demanding walks and challenges, each one adding to a huge total.
The figure is a serious return for a cause that has driven much of his life outside the game. Money raised on the road goes toward research aimed at better understanding and treating blood cancers, and toward giving patients better odds.
Botham is best known for his match-winning heroics in Test cricket, but this fundraising legacy is arguably his biggest innings. Over £12m raised, and a lot of miles covered along the way.
