CAF award: I wanted to make my hometown proud Saido Mane

Africa's best footballer, Sadio Mane believed his achievements would not be possible without his family and hometown support.

The Senegalese international was crowned African best footballer in the continent last year when he beat his team-mate, Mohamed Salah of Egypt and, Riyad Mahrez of Algeria.

According to Mane, his people in the village town were praying for him every day to see him get to the level he has reached. He however motivated and get more excited, and he is going to sacrifice more to make them proud."I can't describe how they are and how motivated they are especially," he told Liverpoolfc.com.

"If you see those people, you push hard and harder to make them proud because it's the only satisfaction they have on it. I have to give back what they have done for me.

"I think it was something special for the village because in the village we had some great players but they never succeed.

"When I came to France and at that time I was playing the second league, the village never had the channel to watch the second league, so everybody was excited to see me on TV.

"I would say the dream came true. when I was young I was always dreaming to be the best and this year I got it. so I am really happy ."

The 27-year old continues " for sure , I am looking forward to performing well again for my team especially and win more.

He says playing for Liverpool is very special because it is a very big club in the world. He stated that winning trophies with Liverpool team can give moe opportunities.

The Liverpool forward added, he has to be performing well so that he can be winning awards like Africa best. He is European champions League winner, and lead Senegal to the final of African cup of Nation in Egypt after losing to Algeria by a goal to nil.
