Cameroonian fighter Francis Ngannou feels disrespected by UFC

Francis Ngannou is unhappy about the UFC. He made that very clear during an interview with GQ. He talked about his resentment centered around the MMA company’s decision to proceed to have an interim heavyweight showdown between Cyril Gane and Derrick Lewis back at UFC 265 earlier this month.

Do you feel like the UFC has been disrespecting you?

Yes. I have that feeling. Just recently they gave me the UFC heavyweight champion, and months later they’re talking about someone else being the champion. Sometimes I’m not even sure if I’m really the champ or not. It’s really confusing.

Ngannou only won the real heavyweight belt during UFC 260 last March when he dethroned former division king Stipe Miocic via a devastating second-round knockout. Ngannou earned the right to challenge Miocic after going on a four-fight undefeated streak that all featured knockout victories from the Cameroonian. Along the way, Francis Ngannou defeated the likes of Curtis Blaydes, Cain Velasquez, Junio Dos Santos, and Jairzinho Rozenstruik.

Having been just a champ for four months, Ngannou is understandably upset over why the UFC had to have an interim heavyweight fight during his reign.

As of the moment, there’s no scheduled fight ahead for Francis Ngannou, but chances are he’s now on a collision course with Gane.
