Eugenio Chacarra pushes clear at the DP World India Championship while Rory McIlroy drops back, and darkness stops round three.
Eugenio Chacarra is tightening his grip on the DP World India Championship. He extended his advantage on a third day that ended before the field could finish, with fading light forcing officials to halt play.
The Spaniard has looked composed while the pressure builds around him. Each time a chaser threatened to close the gap, Chacarra answered, and he now holds the sort of cushion that makes everyone behind him uneasy.
Rory McIlroy was one of those who could not keep pace. The Northern Irishman was in the mix earlier in the day but lost ground as the round wore on, and he now faces a much tougher climb if he wants to get back into contention.
With darkness stopping play, the third round will have to be completed before the final round gets going. That leaves Chacarra with an unfinished task and an anxious wait overnight, while McIlroy and the rest of the chasing pack need a fast start to put real heat on the leader.
