Cleveland Center Andre Drummond Leaves $1,000 Tip During Visit to South Florida Restaurant

Share

NBA Star Andre Drummond continues the generosity in the time of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Cleveland Cavaliers Center left a $1,000 tip on the $164 bill at a Delray Beach restaurant that left the waitress, Kasandra Diaz, “shaking” and in tears.

Diaz revealed Drummond’s generosity on the restaurant's Instagram account, including a picture of his check, which totaled $1,164.25.

“Today, started off as (a) slow day at work getting there for my double shift,” Diaz wrote. “The past week, overall, has been pretty slow of course due to COVID. Restaurants and staff have been struggling, as you can imagine. Little did I know that today I would get a tip no server would guess that they would ever receive.”

From a $160 check, the tip read $1,000. I was shaking and had tears of happiness after what he left me. I had no idea how to react, I didn’t want to draw attention but at the same time I couldn’t describe the amount of appreciation I had/ have. It’s so amazing to see people displaying acts of kindness in these uncertain times. This is a story I will never forget, thank you again so much @andredrummondd."

26-year-old Drummond responded to the post: “Thank you for being amazing!”

This was not the first time Drummond has shown his kindness since COVID-19 shut down the NBA season on March 11.

A JBL ambassador has helped give headphones to schools in Cleveland and Detroit to help students with their online classes and streaming music lessons.

Earlier this month, Drummond donated $100,000 to the Middlesex Health’s Emergency Response Fund, allowing them to provide workers with proper protective equipment.

He previously donated $60,000 to help workers at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, where his Cleveland Cavaliers play their home games.
