Colin Kaepernick signs partnership deal with Disney

Share

Football quarterback Colin Kaepernick has announced an exciting partnership deal with The Walt Disney Co.

The deal will see the 32-year-old feature in an exclusive docuseries produced by ESPN Films.

Kaepernick's production arm, Ra Vision Media, and Disney will focus on shining lights on scripted and unscripted stories that explore race and social injustice.

In a statement, the quarterback said will help elevate storytellers, directors and creators who are persons of colour.

"I am excited to announce this historic partnership with Disney across all of its platforms to elevate Black and Brown directors, creators, storytellers, and producers, and to inspire the youth with compelling and authentic perspectives," the statement read.

"I look forward to sharing the docuseries on my life story, in addition to many other culturally impactful projects we are developing."

Kaepernick has been exiled from the NFL since 2016, after deciding to take a knee during the national anthem.

His action was a big statement as he sought to protest police brutality and racial injustice in the US.

Meanwhile, the former San Francisco 49ers star’s deal with The Walt Disney Co. also extends across all Disney platforms.

These include Walt Disney Television, ESPN, Hulu, Pixar and The Undefeated, Disney's executive chairman, Bob Iger, said.

A docuseries chronicling Kaepernick's journey and his last five years will be the first project in development.
