Cristiano Ronaldo saves Manchester United with a penalty deep in the second half

Share
Manchester United travelled to Norwich on Saturday for Ralf Rangnick's first away game in the Premier League. With the Canaries being on the bottom of the table, nobody would have questioned United's victory in this match. However, things didn't turn out as planned for the "Red Devils". Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates started looking for the opening goal from the very beginning of the game. They came close to open the score twice in the first half, but Ronaldo and Maguire missed some good opportunities. It seemed that Tim Krul was having a good day that might allow him to keep the clean sheet for the rest of the match. With the second half in its way, Manchester United started looking for new ways to go past Norwich's goalkeeper. However, each single one of their attempts were denied either by a courageous tackle from the defence or through a fantastic reflex from Krul. Everything ran smoothly for the Canaries who kept their heads high as the game was coming to a close. In the 75th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo was pulled down by Max Aarons in the penalty area. Darren England was quick with his decision as he signalled for a penalty kick. The Portuguese seized the opportunity, sending the goalkeeper the other way. Norwich tried to pull something out of the hat in the remaining minutes, but with no success. Therefore, Manchester United left Carrow Road with 3 points. After the game, Ralf Rangnick pointed out some of the weaknesses of his team. He mentioned that his players will need to improve their physical skills. The main focus should be on their stamina as the season is quite long. Rangnick is certain that his team will grow and will be able to fight for the top spots in the Premier League. So far, Manchester United is 5th in the current standings with 27 points from 16 matches. They have a pretty easy schedule to end the year as they go on the road to play Brentford in their next game. Upcoming opponents also include Brighton, Newcastle, Burnley, and Wolverhampton.
