Alex de Minaur beat Matteo Berrettini in straight sets in Vienna to notch win No. 350 and book a semi-final against Alexander Zverev.
Alex de Minaur picked the perfect stage for a career landmark. The world No 10 beat Matteo Berrettini 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 in the Vienna Open quarter-finals, claiming the 350th tour-level win of his career.
The 27-year-old is now the ninth Australian man to reach that mark, which puts him in select company in his country's tennis history. The ATP 500 event at the Wiener Stadthalle gave him a fitting setting for it.
Berrettini has been a tricky opponent for De Minaur over the years, but the Australian had his number again in Vienna. He also beat the Italian at the same stage last year. After edging a tight opening set in the tiebreak, he took control in the second and closed out the match.
Next comes a big test. De Minaur faces Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals, with the German on course to become the new world No 1. A place in the final is at stake, and De Minaur will go in with momentum and a milestone win behind him.
