Ethiopian long-distance runner Degitu Azimeraw has cannot contest in the London Marathon after testing positive for Covid-19.
The 21-year-old and her coach Haji Adillo Roba have decided to stay in Ethiopia after both contracted the disease.
This was confirmed by race director Hugh Brasher ahead of this weekend’s much-anticipated London Marathon.
Azimeraw will, therefore, not be able to compete for another medal, having previously won the Amsterdam marathon.
