Derrick Jones Jr. to rejoin Heat in Orlando Bubble after recovering from Coronavirus

Share

NBA star Derrick Jones Jr. has successfully recovered from Coronavirus and will partake in the restart of the season.

The Miami Heat forward is now set to re-join his team in the Orlando bubble for the rest of the season.

Jones Jr. and two other players in the camp of the Heat tested positive for the Coronavirus in June.

As a precautionary measure, the team went ahead to close down its training facility to prevent a further spread.

The news came as a big blow to the Heat, with Heat veteran guard Goran Dragic admitting he immediately contacted Jones Jr.

“Nobody wants that to happen to anybody,” Dragic said, as quoted by Shandel Richardson of Sports Illustrated.

“When we found out, I gave him a call and asked him how he was doing. I didn’t have any concerns. At the end of the day, you can catch it anywhere … It is what it is. Everybody is healthy now.”

However, Jones Jr. has now successfully recovered and will rejoin his Heat teammates for the rest of the 2019/20 NBA season.

A report by Five Reasons Sports Network said: “Derrick Jones Jr — confirmed and named by several outlets 2 weeks ago as testing positive for Covid-19 — has been cleared and is expected to join the Miami Heat to enter the bubble tomorrow, according to multiple Five Reasons Sports sources.”
