India open their T20 series against New Zealand with a win in Christchurch, and Dhir is the name everyone is talking about.
India have started their Twenty20 series against New Zealand with a win in Christchurch, and Dhir led the charge. The first T20 international gave the tourists the early momentum they wanted.
Opening games set the tone for a short-format series. A strong performance on foreign soil puts pressure on the hosts, who now have to regroup quickly and find answers before the next match.
Dhir's influence on the contest was the main talking point. T20 cricket rewards players who seize big moments, and India got that from him when it counted.
New Zealand will look to tighten up in the areas that cost them and fight back in the next game. For India, the job is to keep the intensity high and turn this opening win into a series lead.
