Share

Reports suggest Utah Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell is unwilling to participate in the NBA’s restart over fears of sustaining an injury.

The 23-year-old is reportedly one of many players who habour such a concern as the league gears up to resume.

The Jazz star believes a potential injury might hamper his contract negotiations in the upcoming offseason.

Mitchell is said to have spoken about his unwillingness to return to play during a Zoom call with other players.

A source said the young shooting guard fears injuring himself and thus jeopardizing his opportunity for a max deal.

Yahoo Sports also reports that many players do not want to take part in the resumption of the season due to the threat of the coronavirus.

Some are also reluctant due to the issues of systemic racism in the United States (US).

Meanwhile, the NBA is set to return in early July after being postponed three months ago due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
