Dreams FC End Eight-Game Drought as Kokonu Sinks Holy Stars

Bernard Kokonu's 50th-minute strike lifted Dreams FC to a first Ghana Premier League win after eight matches without victory.

Dreams FC have finally got their Ghana Premier League campaign moving. The Still Believe outfit beat Basake Holy Stars 1-0 in week nine, ending a miserable run of eight matches without a win.

Bernard Kokonu got the only goal of the afternoon in the 50th minute, and it was enough to hand Dreams all three points in a tense, tightly fought contest.

Head coach Winfred Dormon was quick to admit it was far from comfortable. He described the match as tactically demanding and said his side had studied footage of Holy Stars in both home and away fixtures. He called the opposition a very good team, both physically and mentally, and said Dreams had to work hard for everything. In his words, the team really laboured to win the game.

The result is a massive confidence boost, but the work is far from finished. Dreams still sit bottom of the league table, and they will need to turn this single win into a run of results to climb out of the relegation zone.

Next up is a meeting with Debibi United, a chance for Dormon's men to prove the Holy Stars victory was the start of a turnaround rather than a one-off.
