Equatorial Guinea's Gerson Adolfo to Whistle Ghana vs Libya U-23 AFCON Decider

CAF has handed Equatorial Guinea's Gerson Adolfo the whistle for Ghana's crunch U-23 AFCON qualifier second leg against Libya in Accra.

An all-African officiating crew will take charge of one of the key U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, as the Confederation of African Football has named Equatorial Guinea's Gerson Adolfo Mico Esono Angono as centre referee for Ghana's second-leg clash with Libya.

Adolfo will have familiar faces on the touchline. Compatriots Juan Ngua Nguema Eleng and Jose Antonio Eko will serve as Assistant Referee I and Assistant Referee II respectively, while Gilson Da Costa Lima Pereira of Sao Tome and Principe has been appointed fourth official.

The supporting cast spreads across the continent. Liberia's Ivan Gartor Brown is the Match Commissioner, and Senegal's Badara Diatta will sit in as Referee Assessor, keeping a close eye on standards on the night.

The decisive second leg is set for the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, with kick-off at 15H00 GMT. With a place at the continental finals on the line, the stakes are high for the Black Satellites and their opponents.

The appointments were confirmed by GFA Communications, setting the stage for a tense afternoon in the Ghanaian capital.
