FIFACWC: Hakimi’s PSG Thrash Real Madrid in Mbappé Reunion

Share

Paris Saint-Germain were in blistering form as they outpowered Real Madrid in a 4-0 win in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final in East Rutherford on Thursday.

The French outfit recorded a 2-0 win over Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals, while Los Blancos edged out Borussia Dortmund 3-2 las time out to reach the last four.

The game was a reunion for Kylian Mbappe, who was making his first start at the tournament after battling with acute gastroenteritis. However, it was his former team that were two goals up after nine minutes through Fabian Ruiz and Ousmane Dembele, who scored his 35th goal of the campaign.

PSG added a third in the 24th minute after Morocco full-back Achraf Hakimi assisted Ruiz for his second goal of the game.

It was back-to-back assists for Hakimi, having assisted Dembele for the second goal against Bayern. He also scored in back-to-back games against Seattle Sounders and Inter Miami.

Despite a conscious effort to keep possession, PSG still had time for one more goal, which came courtesy of substitute Goncalo Ramos in the 87th minute.

Luis Enrique’s men will now battle Premier League giants Chelsea for the ultimate prize in Sunday’s final at MetLife Stadium, with United States President Donald Trump expected to be in attendance.
