Dutch-Ghanaian star Jeremie Frimpong bagged a goal and two assists as Liverpool outgunned LASK 6-3 in the Champions League.
Jeremie Frimpong, the Dutch-Ghanaian flyer, turned Europe's biggest stage into his playground on Wednesday night, grabbing a goal and two assists as Liverpool beat LASK 6-3 at the Raiffeisen Arena in the Champions League.
Liverpool were already in command when Frimpong struck in the 51st minute. Kostas Tsimikas created the chance and Frimpong finished it to make it 4-0. Ronald Araújo had opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, and the Reds had banked a first-half cushion that would prove decisive.
Frimpong then switched from scorer to creator. He set up Bradley Barcola in the 66th minute and Lewis Koumas six minutes later, tearing up the right flank throughout. Barcola completed a hat-trick and earned a perfect 10 match rating. Frimpong's 9.2 was the second-best mark in the Liverpool side.
LASK refused to go quietly. Robert Ljubičić pulled one back, and Florian Flecker added two more to make the scoreline look closer than the contest was. Liverpool had done the damage early and never lost control.
Next up is the Premier League, where Liverpool host Brentford on October 17. Frimpong will want to bring this Champions League form with him.
