Geno Smith’s strong Jaxon Smith-Njigba take will excite Seahawks fans ahead of 2023 season

The Seattle Seahawks kicked off their OTAs (Organized Team Activities) schedule last week, and all eyes were on Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the team's first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Smith-Njigba had previously participated in the Seahawks' rookie minicamp, where he was limited in activity due to a lingering hamstring issue from the offseason. However, he did take part in individual drills.

During the opening week of OTAs, Smith-Njigba focused on building chemistry with quarterback Geno Smith and familiarizing himself with the playbook of Seahawks offensive coordinator Shane Waldron. Smith was impressed by Smith-Njigba's performance, praising his smooth route running, natural hands, and self-confidence. The rookie receiver has been diligently learning his assignments and has made a positive impact so far.

Waldron also commended Smith-Njigba's seamless integration into the team, highlighting his talent and progress in individual drills. The Seahawks' coaching staff is excited to work with him and witness his growth throughout the OTAs and into training camp.

Smith-Njigba had an impressive college career at Ohio State, particularly during the 2021 season, where he showcased his skills with 95 receptions, 1,606 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns. Although he faced setbacks due to a hamstring injury in 2022, he remains highly regarded as a promising talent.

The Seahawks' OTAs schedule will continue on May 30, providing further opportunities for Smith-Njigba to showcase his abilities and continue his development within the team.
