GFA Drops 3,000 Footballs on Colts Clubs Nationwide

Ghana's grassroots just got a major boost as the GFA ships 3,000 footballs to Colts clubs across all ten regions before the 2026/27 season.

Ghana's next generation of footballers has fresh equipment to chase their dreams. The Ghana Football Association has delivered the first batch of 3,000 footballs to Colts clubs, with every one of the country's ten Regional Football Associations receiving a share.

The split was not random. Each RFA got its allocation according to the number of active Colts clubs in its area, so regions with more teams received more balls. The approach delivers on a promise from GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku to provide 10 footballs for every active Colts club.

The timing matters. The delivery follows the GFA's confirmation of opening dates for the next Regional Colts Football Season, which kicks off on 31 October 2026 in Greater Accra and Brong Ahafo. Clubs now have kit in hand to prepare properly well before the first whistle.

For grassroots teams, something as basic as a ball can be a real hurdle. The GFA says the move is part of a broader push to strengthen community clubs and ease the logistical load on Colts sides ahead of the new campaign.

This is only the first allocation. Further distribution will run through the Regional Football Associations, again based on how many active clubs each region has, keeping the pipeline of young Ghanaian talent supplied from the ground up.
