A top GFA delegation visited the grieving family of Agartha Takyiwaa, promising support for her burial and for justice to be served.
Ghana football is standing shoulder to shoulder with one of its own. A high-ranking Ghana Football Association delegation has visited the family of the late Fabulous Ladies player Agartha Takyiwaa, offering condolences and a firm pledge of support as they mourn.
The delegation said the GFA would stay by the bereaved family through this painful period, and carried personal and institutional messages of backing from GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku. It was a clear signal that the loss of a women's footballer is being felt across the entire football community.
Justice was also high on the agenda. The GFA said it is working with the Ghana Police Service to help ensure those responsible for Takyiwaa's death are brought to book. The Association also said it is ready to provide logistical and financial support through the Ashanti Regional Football Association office, so the family can give the player a befitting burial.
The visit was led by GFA Executive Council Members Dr. Gifty Oware-Mensah and Frederick Acheampong. They were joined by Ashanti RFA Vice-Chairman Isaac Adu Gasper, Colts Football Chairman Kwabena Owusu Dankwa and Referees Manager David Kumah, along with Ashanti RFA Security Coordinator Moro Iddrisu and Secretary Ntim Andrews.
Club representation was strong too. Fabulous Ladies FC President Habiba Atta Forson and CEO Augustine Nana Atuahene attended, as did Dreamz Ladies FC President Owura Adomako, Kumasi Sports Academy CEO Foster Antwi and Regional Driver Sulemana Yussif. The turnout showed a women's game that looks after its people when it matters most.
