Ghana's next generation gets a national stage as the GFA brings back the U17 Colts Regional Champions Cup, backed by KIVO and JLAB.
Ghana's young talents are getting their big stage back. The Ghana Football Association has confirmed the return of the U17 Colts Regional Champions Cup for the 2025/26 season, reviving a tournament built to push the country's youth pipeline forward.
The competition will bring together 10 champions from the Colts leagues run by the Regional Football Associations across the country. Each side will have earned its place by winning its regional Boys U17 Colts title, and from there they will chase the national crown.
KIVO and JLAB have come on board as sponsors, giving the revived tournament commercial backing. The GFA has not yet released the full list of qualified clubs, so the identities of the regional champions will become clearer as the season develops.
The Cup sits within the GFA's wider talent development pathway, and its purpose is simple: give young players a national platform to show what they can do. For teenagers coming through regional leagues, that kind of exposure can be the difference between being overlooked and being noticed by bigger clubs and national team setups.
With grassroots football the lifeblood of Ghana's reputation as a producer of talent, the return of this tournament is a welcome signal. Keep an eye on the Colts, because the stars of tomorrow could be lining up in these regional finals.
