Ghana's embassy in Morocco brought national backing to the Black Maidens' camp before their do-or-die U-17 Women's World Cup clash with Canada.
Ghana's diplomatic corps in Morocco has thrown its full weight behind the Black Maidens, with Deputy Head of Mission Madam Janet Abugre visiting the squad's camp to deliver a message of national pride before their decisive Group B fixture against Canada at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
Madam Abugre arrived with Head of Chancery Ms. Ivy Suglo and Head of Consular Affairs Mr. Alfred Hammond. The delegation sat down with the players and technical staff, passing on words of encouragement and assuring them that Ghana is standing firmly behind the team.
Her core message was unity. Madam Abugre told the young players that football at this level is a team effort, not a showcase for individuals, and reminded them that they carry the hopes of an entire nation onto the pitch. She urged them to treat the tournament as a major platform and to give everything in pursuit of victory, adding simply that she encourages them to win.
The support will not stop at the camp. Madam Abugre confirmed she will be in the stadium to cheer the Black Maidens on in person, a gesture that underlines how much this match means back home.
With qualification on the line, the Black Maidens now head into the Canada clash with a country's backing and a clear brief: stay together, play fearless, and leave nothing behind.
