Every club in the Gold Fields Women's Premier League gets GH¢100,000 as the Ghana FA backs the 2026/27 season with cash, boots and more.
Ghana's women's football just got a serious shot in the arm. The Ghana Football Association has paid GH¢100,000 to each of the 20 clubs in the Gold Fields Women's Premier League, a GH¢2 million injection timed for the start of the 2026/27 campaign.
The payments went out on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, fulfilling the annual pledge made by FA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku to strengthen the finances of women's clubs across the country. The money is meant to help teams cover day-to-day operations and keep the women's game growing.
The support goes well beyond cash. The FA will foot the bill for referees and Match Commissioners for the entire season, easing a cost burden that often weighs heavily on clubs. Each side also receives 30 pairs of football boots, a practical boost for player welfare, training and match days.
The package is rounded out by fuel support from GOIL to help clubs handle the demands of travel across the season, plus souvenirs from Melcom. With all 20 teams now kicking off with this backing in place, the focus shifts to the pitch, and to whether the investment lifts the quality and competitiveness of the league.
