Journalists and photographers can now apply to cover Ghana's 2027 AFCON qualifier against Somalia at Essipong, with 150 media tribune seats up for grabs.
Ghana is rolling out the press welcome mat for its 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Somalia, with media accreditation now open for the clash at Essipong Sports Stadium in the Western Region. It is a reminder that the work behind African football's biggest stories starts long before kickoff, with the people who tell them.
Journalists and photographers who want to be in the building must email their applications to pr@sportsauthority.gov.gh by 5:00 pm GMT on Monday, November 9, 2026. Every application needs a recent passport-sized photograph. No photo means no consideration, and late submissions will be turned away.
Space is limited. The media tribune at Essipong holds 150 journalists, and only shortlisted applicants will be accredited. The list of successful applicants is expected the day after the deadline, so check your inbox and the official channels closely.
Once approved, accreditation tags can be collected from one of two points: the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Secretariat at the Accra Sports Stadium, or the National Sports Authority (NSA) Secretariat at Essipong Sports Stadium. Accra-based media can pick up their tags at the SWAG Secretariat between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm on the designated collection day. Applicants from the Western Region and nearby areas are directed to the NSA Secretariat at Essipong instead, which saves them a trip across the country.
