Ghana's U-15 captain Abdul Aziz Issa says a seventh-place finish among 189 nations at the FIFA World Cup and Festival will fuel the next generation.
Ghana's young stars have announced themselves on the world stage, and captain Abdul Aziz Issa says the lessons from Azerbaijan will shape their journey. The Black Starlets finished seventh among 189 countries at the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival 2026, winning eight of their 10 matches.
Issa was proud of what the group achieved and quick to credit the platform they were given. "I think we played well, the exposure was good for our development, and we can't thank FIFA and the GFA enough for this amazing platform," he said. He also thanked his teammates for how far they carried Ghana in the competition.
The captain sees the tournament as a stepping stone. Facing opponents from around the globe has given the squad a taste of international pressure, and Issa believes that experience will pay off as these players move up to the U-17 and U-20 levels.
The numbers back up the ambition. Ghana scored 44 goals in 10 matches and landed among the top seven sides at the tournament. They were especially lethal in the group stage, hitting 27 goals while conceding just three, a record that showed both their attacking threat and their defensive discipline.
For Ghana football, it is a promising sign. If this group keeps growing together, the pipeline to the senior ranks could be getting a serious boost.
