Giannis Antetokounmpo equals Abdul-Jabbar's record at Bucks

Share

Milwaukee Bucks superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo has made a name for himself, becoming the first player in franchise history to equal the record of legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Antetokounmpo scored 36 points, 20 rebounds and six assists against the Philadelphia 76ers on February 6 2020, a play which has only been put up by Abdul-Jabbar for the Bucks.

Antetokounmpo came into game against the Sixers averaging 30.1 points, 13.2 rebounds and 5.8 assists, making the Bucks win by a final score of 112-101.

Although Antetokounmpo was born in Greece and has become a Greek basketball professional, his parents are Nigerians.

He began playing basketball for the youth teams of Filathlitikos in Athens and in 2011, he began playing for the club's senior team.

He entered the NBA Draft in 2013, where he was selected 15th overall by the Bucks.

In 2016–17 he led the Bucks in all five major statistical categories and became the first player in NBA history to finish a regular season in the top 20 in all five statistics of total points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks, and received the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in 2017.
