Giannis Antetokounmpo named in 2019-20 NBA All-Defensive First Team

Milwaukee Buck star Giannis Antetokounmpo has been named in the 2019-20 NBA All-Defensive First Team.

This comes after the 25-year-old was also voted the 2019-20 Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year.

The NBA All-Defensive First Team is decided by votes from a global panel of 100 persons from diverse backgrounds.

The panel, which comprises of both sportswriters and broadcasters, voted overwhelmingly for Antetokounmpo.

The Greek superstar received 97 NBA All-Defensive First Team vote, earning him a total of 195 points.

He is on joined on the 2019-20 NBA All-Defensive First Team by LA Lakers forward Anthony Davis, Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons, Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert and Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart.

Meanwhile, LA Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard, Bucks center Brook Lopez, Miami Heat forward Bam Adebayo, Clippers guard Patrick Beverley and Bucks guard Eric Bledsoe made the 2019-20 NBA All-Defensive Second Team.

Bucks are the first team to have at least three players named to the NBA All-Defensive Team since the Memphis Grizzlies in 2012-13.

This follows the selection of Antetokounmpo to the NBA All-Defensive First Team and Lopez and Bledsoe to the Second Team.

In the 2012-13 season, Grizzlies’ Tony Allen, Mike Conley and Marc Gasol also achieved the same feat.
