Ghana's amputee football stars head to Mexico with a US$500,000 sponsorship lifting their 2026 World Cup dream.
Ghana's Black Challenge are going to the World Cup with serious backing behind them. Gold Fields Ghana Limited has pledged US$500,000 over two years to power the amputee national team's run at the 2026 WAFF Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico, along with their training programmes after the tournament.
Ghana Football Association president Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku and senior Gold Fields officials visited the squad on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The working visit was designed to lift the spirits of the players and technical team before they carry the nation's colours onto the global stage.
Simeon-Okraku thanked the company for its commitment and pointed to a partnership with Ghanaian football that stretches back to 2005. He said Gold Fields showed vision when no other company did, and credited its leadership for sustained support over the years.
The GFA boss described the deal as a meaningful investment in the ambitions of the Black Challenge players, whose dedication to the national team continues to inspire the country. With funding secured and morale high, Ghana's amputee heroes can now focus on what matters most: chasing glory in Mexico.
