Asante Kotoko's rising midfielder Hubert Gyau wants more goals after his strike sank Young Apostles, and he is ready to grind in training.
Ghana's next generation of midfield talent is hungry for more, and Hubert Gyau is leading the charge at Asante Kotoko. The young playmaker has pledged to sharpen his finishing after a match-winning display in the Ghana Premier League.
Gyau was the star man for the Porcupine Warriors at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, scoring in a 2-1 victory over Young Apostles. The goal took his tally to two in seven league appearances, a return he feels he can better.
Rather than bask in the glow of the win, the midfielder was quick to name his next target. "I need to work on my goal scoring. From now on, I will put in extra work in training to ensure I score more goals," Gyau said after the game. He has promised Kotoko supporters that the extra sessions will go into polishing his end product in front of goal.
The highly-rated former Berekum Chelsea man has become a key figure at the club since arriving in 2025, and his mix of energy and quality has made him hard to leave out. His development will matter as Kotoko chase consistency in the title race.
The next test comes on Sunday, October 25, when the Reds travel to face FC Ashanti Gold at the Len Clay Sports Stadium in a Week 8 clash. Kickoff is set for 3 pm, and Gyau will be looking to turn his training-ground promise into another goal.
